What’s on the menu today?!
Food is music to the body, music is food to the heart.
-Gregory David Roberts
Regardless of what mood you may find yourself in this upcoming Friday, just about anyone can find some satisfaction in some old fashioned live music at your local radio station. Good thing Knoxville has The Blue Plate Special every Monday through Saturday at the Knoxville Visitor Center!
If you catch yourself with some free time and looking to hear some new up and coming artists originating everywhere from Ireland to right here in Knoxville, then this is the spot to be. That isn’t even the best part. You can come every single day and hear live music without having to pay a dime!
Not to mention that this is a great way to get into the spirit of Christmas. After breakfast at Market Square you could stroll on down to the visitor center on Gay Street to catch some live vintage Christmas tunes.
This Wednesday Will Jones will be performing along with Tim Shelton from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. They will be putting on a vintage Christmas show which will be a great seasons greetings this year.
Tim Shelton, for those that do not know, could be compared to an older and more mature version of Michael Bublè with a voice that can make you feel warm and cozy like the Holiday itself.
Will Jones is a newly up and coming artist, so if he is performing with Tim Shelton then I’m sure his voice is nothing shy of impressive.
An ideal start to your Wednesday afternoon could go a little like this. Enjoy a nice meal at Market Square at any one of the numerous restaurants. Next you could take a walk to The Phoenix Pharmacy and Fountain right on South Gay Street and grab one of their delicious milkshakes or peppermint coffees. Finally, you might top it off by enjoying Tim Shelton and Will Jones collaborate on some Christmas classics just a few minutes down the road.
This Friday there will also be a guest appearance of someone who is recognized as a remarkable guitar player. Grammy winning Bill Mize is unbelievable with the vast creativity he has with a guitar and the way that he plays it. His originality is what makes him stand out as a musician and his passion for music will reciprocate into the audience for a performance like no other.
Bill Mize will be accompanied by Spence Reed on Friday who is also a new and upcoming artist. Spence reed’s music is very similar to the new age country music such as Sam Hunt or some of the other popular artists that are hot right now.
Thanks to WDVX, all of Knoxville has the opportunity to visit the Knoxville Visitor Center to sit in and listen to live performances six days a week from Grammy winning artists to someone just trying to get their name out there. Completely free to anyone and everyone, just make sure you come prepared to witness a star or a star in the making.
